She is now a Cathay Pacific Airways cabin crew
Hi Luke
Just a note to say thank you for the information as it has really helped me to a certain extend for my preparation. Due to family relocation, I would not be joining SIA but i'm equally thrilled to be with Cathay Pacific. Thank you (:

He is made it at his 3rd attempt
He is the 3rd gentlemen who made it after attending my talks at the 8 May 2010 SIA cabin crew interview at Sheraton Tower. There were others at my talks who made it but too "busy" to email me.
Thank you for creating these opportunities for cabin crew wanna-bes to meet
up with you and learn from you the tips to aceing the SIA interview.
Thank you for answering for our questions during the talk.
Thank you for encouraging me when I didn't succeed in my first 2 attempts.
Finally, I made it in my 3rd attempt. You provided useful information in
your talk. If I had not attended your talk, I would likely need many many
more attempts. I am waiting for medical clearance now. No guarantee that I
will get in yet. But knowing that I have reached this far is pleasantly
enough! I have done my best for the interviews. The medical examination is
beyond my control.
To wanna-bes out there who hasn't done anything despite wanting this job so
badly, my advice is that you really have to put in efforts in understanding
what the job of a cabin crew is like. One way is to speak to someone who has
been there, done that. Mr Luke is certainly able to guide you in this sense.
All the best, people. Thank you, Sir.
Warmest regards,
ZH

He can't believe he passed all the 4 rounds
Hi Sir,
I am Kxxx from your 07th March Interview Talk. I am not sure if you would still remember who I am,
but I WILL NEVER forget you and what you have thought me then. There are so many thoughts rushing
through my mind even as I am typing this email, which I cannot find a way to really express them clearly.
But just to sum it up: I went for the 08th May interview and I MADE IT =D
I seems all surreal to me for the fact that I actually even managed to make it to, and through, the
1-to-1 interview, considering that the furthest I've progressed to for my past 3 attempts is the skin check round.
Not only that, I was able to face the management with steadiness and poise, and not faltering at any point (even
though I admit my hands were secretly trembling uncontrollably at some point). The keywords you have taught me
reaffirmed my confidence, and your lesson on SMILING braved me through the 2 trying days. Now I cannot stop smiling =D
Thank you very much once again Sir. I hope my message to you will once again be a strong testament to
the effectiveness and reliability of your talks. And as a word of encouragement to all the fellow SIA hopefuls out
there: Never give up, and Mr Tan's talk really work wonders =D
Regards
Kxxx

She applied the principles I taught her
For the first round, it was self introduction and the question i got was why i wanted to be an air stewardess with SIA. Throughout the whole time i just remembered what you said which was to smile and mention all my achievements i've received.
2nd round was a memory game and a case study. Lucky me i got the same case study i got during my first interview. So i knew how to answer and also you mentioned during the talk was always seek assistance from the leading steward/stewardess if face with difficulty so i just answered as so.
So at the end of the interview, i just thanked them for having us on a Sunday and waited for my results. I just smiled the whole time, keeping in mind that i have to say something to impress them and show that i am really passionate, have the personality and mature enough for the job. & it did feel discouraging since i've failed twice but i kept on trying and well, its worth the wait! Thanks Luke, for the talk, which helped me know what i should and should not do like smiling, maturity and personality which will get me through and its not about having the looks or fantastic acedemic qualifications to get through. (:Thank you. (:

Don't doubt...you WILL make it!
Dear Mr Luke Tan
I not sure if you are able to remember me as I was one of your participants earlier this year.
Just would like to share the good news with you that, I FINALLY MADE IT!
I could still remember vividly how you have encouraged and motivated us during the learning session. The talk was extremely informative and I kept it in mind till today.
And, when I unfortunately failed my management round, you still encouraged me that I will make it the next time round.
Thank you so much for your guidance and encouragement then.
Now, I'm looking forward to my training! :)
Cheers!

AsiaOne's article on Luke
This is an article from AsiaOne forum,
"If these 'horror stories' are still insufficient to deter cabin attendant hopefuls from trying their luck at the interviews, bright-eyed wannabes can still find plenty of tips online. Luke SS Tan, an 'ex-cabin crew training and check executive' with SIA holds talks on a regular basis to help aspiring stewards and stewardesses pass the interviews. Because his talks have gained popularity online, SS Tan had also started to offer a PDF 'Programme' version of his tips at $30 a pop... click here to continue

Mr E visited me for lunch.
Mr E, a participant at my January 2008 talks paid me a visit this afternoon and we had lunch at the cafe near my place.
Mr. E "breezed" through the 4 rounds of SIA CC interview after attending my talks. He ,prior to attending my talks, had failed countless times to the point of giving up attending the interview.
Today, Mr E is a cabin crew and I could see in his eyes that he was a very happy man when he told me about his work experiences on his flights.
Keep on smiling Mr. E and everything will be alright!

She is now an SIA Girl thanks to .......
Dear Luke,
Thanks for the advices in your programme in pdf format, I've successfully cleared all 4 rounds of interview plus medical check! Will be starting my training on XXX =)
It was definitely an unexpected one as this was my second time going for SIA walk-in interview and i was shocked enough to be able to pass the Kebaya fitting round. In my group of 10, only 2 girls including myself got through the second round and proceeded all the way to the last.
Once again, thanks for the programme, it definitely helped me understand what the Company was looking for.
Thanks and Regards,
Ms JJJJ

How We Met Mr SS Tan / Luke
As i mention in my previous post, lots of pple around me are talking about SIA recently. And i have repeated my story over and over again. Here goes,
My friend Eric wanted to be a cabin crew for lots of reason. But just couldn't get in.He tried the write in and walk in interview for about 8 times and the furthest he went was round 2. He almost gave up and started to have doubts about himself.
Eric and i usually have this habits of looking tru pages and pages of the forum. To get ourself prepared for the question that they might post. One day, as i was looking tru i saw someone recommending some of the cabin crew wannabe to Mr Tan's blog. I followed the link, read tru all his post and decided to get Eric registered for his upcoming talk. Initially,Eric was very skeptical. Mr Tan's blog was quite new then and there wasn't any picture like wad u see in his blog now with his student.I had to "physco" / brain wash him for 2 days before he finally agreed.
I sent Mr Tan his details and the reply was quick. The day came and we went to Mr Tan's place. He had everything prepared and asked Eric about his previous attempt. After that,he started assessing him and went tru all the round etc..He told him he should smile thru out the interview as he has a very stern face.Everything lasted about 2 -3 hrs.
The day came 27 January 2008 ,the day we will always remember he "breezed" through the 4 rounds of SIA cabin crew interview.
Lastly,no amount of words can express how grateful we are. He is the man who changed Eric's life. The man who made everything possible for him when all his relatives, colleagues and close friend told him that it's impossiable for him to get in.Although Mr Tan have help already helped Eric achieved his dreams. He still keep in touch with us and check up on how we are doing.Sometimes i wonder if he is some kind angels or saint out on a quest to help those in need.
Anyway, this post is dedicated to Gina, cabin crew wannabe and of course Mr Tan himself.

First time reached 3rd round but now a cabin crew
Hi Mr Tan,
Thank you so much for your help on ####. My name is S####, the fair girl wearing Green. I was booted out during 1 to 1 interview.
Nevertheless, thank you so much for giving me the confidence because i feel more secure and i listen to your adv and was happy that i passed Round 1. Secondly, i managed to pass Kebaya plus Skin check, also thanks to you for telling me that i'm not too skinny for SIA which boost my confidence.
Well, something must have gone wrong during 1 to 1 interview and i feel so sad being booted out because i was confident on that day. Sigh!
During 1 to 1 interview, The questions asked were relatively tough:
1. Why do you want to make a career switch?
2. What does customer service means to you?
3. What are the negative aspects of being a Cabin crew?
4. Do you refer to work alone or as a team?
5. Are you a team player or team leader?
6. Describe yourself.
7. Is service on Air ot service on ground more important and why?
That's all i could recall........
I frumbled at Qn 3 :
"3. What are the negative aspects of being a Cabin crew?"
I answered that working irregular hours and that it can also be positive in the sense that you must stay healthy and be very disciplined.
I guess this is what killed me....depending on how you interpret my answer. i guess i failed to explain clearly and maybe the interviewer might interpret it as i'm someone who prefers 9 to 5 job.
Actually what i meant was that to some people, it might be negative. However, for me, it is positive as i do not like deskbound job and thus i do not mind the irregular working hours. This can be positive because i will then"forced" myself to stay healthy, be healthy and maintain being disciplined.
Nevermind, i will keep trying.......do you think i'll get accepted into SIA? Because i really wanna fly!!!!
I'm grateful to you for the tips you provided me with and at least this time round, there is a improvement as this is the 1st time i got into 1 on 1 interview stage. Not too bad! Haha!
3 months later,
Wanted to email you to express my appreciation but don't know if you can still remember me since i belong to your earlier batch of participants. :P
I managed to pass the May interview because I remembered your valuable advice and the confidence you instill in me and i managed to SOAR! Really appreciate your help so much. :) Without your guidance, i will still be "clueless".
Sincerely,

What has been said about me
Got this from AsiaOne forum,a portal of SPH:
If these 'horror stories' are still insufficient to deter cabin attendant hopefuls from trying their luck at the interviews, bright-eyed wannabes can still find plenty of tips online. Luke SS Tan, an 'ex-cabin crew training and check executive' with SIA holds talks on a regular basis to help aspiring stewards and stewardesses pass the interviews. Because his talks have gained popularity online, SS Tan had also started to offer a PDF 'Programme' version of his tips at $30 a pop.

Hi,
I am residing in KL and to attend the talk in Singapore don’t sound convenient to me due to the work schedule.
Is there a way where I can pay the fee and then you send me those details which is going to be included in your talk?
Thanks
My reply:
It is not fair for you to pay me the fee by me just sending you notes. I need to personally see and assess you.Well in your case,if you need any advice please feel free to email me.
Thanks,
Luke Tan

This one asked for help from Amsterdam.
Hello Mr. SS Stan,
I readed about you on the internet that you train the cabin crew.Next week I'm going to apply at an airline company in the netherlands, there I come from.I am very nervous and I wondered myself if you have any tips for me. This is really my dream job and I hope that I will be selected.
Ms "C"
My reply (free of charge, fo course)
Hi "C",
If you are qualified to apply,my tips to you would be SMILE like crazy during the interview. Look as pleasant and friendly as possible. Show the interviewers you are hungry for the job. Dress neatly and wear some makeup(if u are a gal). Read up about the destinations the airline is operating to and the background of Amsterdam Airlines.
Good Luck
Best Regards,
Luke Tan

A Big Thank you from Ms 'C' and Ms "A"...Next Talks on 6 April
Dear Mr Tan,
The final round went smoothly for me this time.. thanks to your kind advice. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to say a big THANK YOU for making my childhood dream come true! May God bless you and your family! :)
With warm wishes, Miss C. (Your student)
Dear Mr Tan,
I will like to thank you very much. You reassured us very much before the interview with your light hearted encounters as a CC and wise advice for the interviews. Mr Tan is very patient and kind to us. He called us up after every interview and remembers each and every of his students as a special individual. I am especially touched by his kind gesture. To me, Mr Tan is not only my advicer/ trainer, he is a friend too. Thank you for making my dream come through. And believing in us that we can do it even when others stop believing in us. When others believe that our numerous attempts in the walk-ins are futile, he believes that we can do it. And he never put us down, only gentle yet truthful advice. Thank you! Hope we will keep in touch! =)
Cheers...from Ms A
Ms A finally made it! (refer to her email below when she failed her management last month and I told her she will make it ...look at the date that email was posted)
Miss "A":
Hello Mr Tan, I email you too. Wanted thank you for your talk and help last last week =) Every cabin crew wannabe shld go for Mr Tan's talk as it is insightful and definitely helpful.
Above is by a lovely Ms "A" who participated in my Talks recently. She progressed up to the management round but was booted out. Nevertheless, Ms "A" is not discouraged because that was the first time she had manged to reach this important final round of interview. It was a learning experience for Ms "A" and she is determined to achieve her dream of becoming a SQ Girl shortly.
Surely Ms "A" you CAN and WILL make it!

A big thank you to Luke and Richard for conducting this very valuable talk for cabin crew wannabes!
Without the talk, I do believe 270108 walk in interview would be a disaster for me. Luckily with their help and guidance, I manage to clear all the interview with a breeze!
I'm glad that I made the right choice for attending the talk and I would recommend this to all cabin crew wannabes as you will gain more than what you expected.
Cheers + thumbs up!
